English Open — Pure Pickleball’s Biggest Medal Haul Yet

The English Open Pickleball Championships gave us one of those weekends that reminded us exactly why we started Pure Pickleball.

Twenty players headed to the championships representing Pure, competing across singles, doubles and mixed doubles — and they came home with an incredible collection of medals.

Rachel Platt and Joanne McLaughlan took Gold in the Ladies Doubles, while Chris Woodward and Lee Roberts also became English Open champions with Gold in the Men’s Doubles.

Harriet Bell secured Silver in the Ladies Singles, with Richard Mounsey and Simon Darmon taking Silver in the Men’s Doubles.

There were Bronze medals too for John Winstanley in Men’s Singles, Abigail Pearce in Ladies Doubles, Paula Postlethwaite and Rachel Abbiss in Ladies Doubles, and Richard Mounsey and Abigail Pearce in Mixed Doubles.

It was a brilliant medal haul.

But the bit we're most proud of isn't actually the medals.

It's seeing people from our little corner of Cheshire stepping onto the courts at one of the biggest events in the country and having a go.

Some won medals. Some didn't. Some had brilliant games and some probably had matches they'd rather forget.

Every one of them represented Pure brilliantly.

They competed hard, supported each other and showed just how far the standard of pickleball in our community has come.

When we opened Pure, we wanted to create somewhere people could discover pickleball, get better and, if they wanted to, test themselves competitively.

Seeing Purists standing on English Open podiums is pretty special.

Seeing them brave enough to enter in the first place might be even better.
